Gardening is just easy! You just need to start slow and you gotta be patient! Vegetables don't bear fruits overnight isn't it? I made our 25.5f x 3.5f garden within a week because I manually dig up the soil and add compost on it. I have this little greenhouse too to grow seeds that can't be sow directly in the soil. (Would be so much easier if you got enough gardening tools).

I have scallions, jalapeños, bell peppers, poplano peppers, cherry tomatoes, roma tomatoes and okra. From 2-3 months of gardening we are now literally reaping what we sow!
Are planning to start a garden too? Well, I'm here to help you with that. Start gardening at the start of the season. Take advantage of the spring so that before fall you can harvest your vegetables already:

Find a right location. It should have at least 6hrs. of full sunlight. To choose right type of soil please prefer the loose & uncompressed soil. It is surely healthy for plants and less work for you too. (Tips: If your soil is not the right kind, you can always buy garden soil. That's what I did with our garden. I bought 6 cubic ft. garden soil for about $20 to mix it with the actual soil i have from digging the garden.)
Build the garden beds (Either it's a raised garden bed
or just laying flat on the ground). You can get better yields, prevent weed woes and only feed and water the important plants when you create a physical barrier between your crops and the rest of your landscape but I didn't made a raised garden beds for mine (it'll add cost). What I did was just dig up the ground by 25.5ft x 3.5ft, took away all the weeds and voila it's ready. I just added fence to my garden as you can see. If you are willing to try raised garden beds then you can make it with any length of your liking, but never wider than 4ft. for the purpose of reaching center without stepping them. I am a very small woman with 5'3 height and weighing only 80lbs. and I successfully made 22.5ft x 3.5 ft garden just using this kind of garden tools. Surely you too can!
Explore new ideas. Think about things that might help making your garden great without spending too much. Let's say for example putting fertilizers, it cost money isn't it? So why don't you just make your own compost pit. It doesn't need to be big, it just need to have enough for your garden. I made 1 for mine and it's so much easier. More savings and more healthy garden.
Grow your seeds. Select the vegetables you wanted to grow and sow them according to the the package instruction. If seeds are planted directly to the garden beds protect them with sticks (Tips: Not all seedlings can be sow directly to the garden beds. Some of them needed a dark space to grow better but don't worry seedling packages got all the in
formation you need).
Transfer the plants when they're ready. Once you transferred the plants into the garden bed make sure to protect them by putting 3 pcs. 12'inches sticks around each plant with half of it pushed to the ground. You can even use plastic bottles with hole on top and bottom. You can take them away once the plants are strong enough to hold their roots in the garden. You can investment for mulch but it adds garden cost. If you started making your own compost, please add them immediately after planting your veggies. The spacing of your plants varies upon the packaging instructions.
Let your plants drink The plants need water like us so please don't forget to water them every morning and if necessary (when weather is so hot) please be advise to water them twice a day. (best time is early morning and before sunset).
Have fun! Now your garden is ready. You just have to make sure that you take care of them. It should have enough water, fertilizer (compost) and of course make sure it's weed free!Once you see your plants ready for harvest you'll be surprise how beautiful it is to pick and cook your very own fresh veggies!
Note: Regarding the problem about those rabbits and squirrels digging up your garden here's the solution and it really works for me. Unlike other repellent this is just so worth it! HOT PEPPER WAX is what you're looking for. Also, it's concentrate and you can use it so many times. You can read my my post about how to get rid of animals from your garden.
